Who is Coach Maki?!
My name is (Mr.) Ryan Maki. I am the Physical Education teacher at Wylie Elementary School in Dexter, Michigan. Throughout this website, you will be able to learn more about myself and how I educate our youth and our community on how to be physically active for a lifetime. You will also find numerous resources that I've found helpful as an educator and an advocate for physical fitness.
I started teaching at Wylie Elementary in the Fall of 2016. This will be my 7th year teaching Physical Education at Wylie. I received my Bachelors of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 2013. I majored in Physical Education (K-12) and minored in School Health Education (6-12). Immediately after graduating in Winter 2013, I long-termed subbed at Mill Creek Middle School in Dexter, MI as the 7th Grade Physical Education & Health Teacher for the 2nd semester. After long-term subbing at Mill Creek Middle School, I received a job a para-professional for two years at Mill Creek Middle School. Soon after, I got hired at Wylie Elementary as the Physical Education teacher. Needless to say, I LOVE IT AT DEXTER!
I have also coached over 25 teams in Dexter over the last 10 years, varying from Cross Country, Basketball and Track & Field in Middle School and High School. I'm also an avid photographer that loves to capture photographs - especially sports and wildlife. You may see me in or around the Dexter area trying to capture the action!
Below, I have several photographs of myself, friends, family and photos I've taken while enjoying one of my many hobbies - photography. I have also listed a few fun facts about myself.
Enjoy! :)
